Department of Chemistry& IQAC, Shri Pancham Khemraj Mahavidyalaya Sawantwadi in collaboration with Maharashtra State Agriculture Department,Sawantwadijointly organized Farmers Meet on Monday3rd January 2022 atMalgaon where Agriculture Experts appeal to the youth of the farming family. During the last two years, all industries and businesses in the country were shut down due to the lockdown caused by Covid-19. Only agriculture was started in the country. Therefore, agriculture is the industry and the business related to this industry should be given priority by the youth of Konkan. In this meet, Agriculture officials and experts delivered necessary guidance on "Soil Testing and Agricultural Management" including "Mango and Cashew Seal Protection Guidance and Training". The farmers raised their questions regarding agriculture and got their doubts resolved by the agriculture officials and experts. At this time, Chetan Prabhu, Swami lab, kankavali explained how soil testing and agricultural management is done in Western Maharashtra, how the farmers in the management should do it, how to sell agricultural commodities as well as how to store and use of seeds. Expressing his belief that the time to come will be for the farmers, SachinChorge, officer seed bank,kankavali said that the government should take appropriate decision in this regard. Vijay Waghmare said that cleaning and spraying is necessary to control pests and diseases in Mango and Cashew trees. Yashwant Gawhane said that farmers should acquire modern knowledge about agriculture by using smart phones, maintain soil health, avoid using JCBs and turn to agriculture instead of flying the city in search of jobs.
